About this work
Commissioned by Gregory X and presented to Nicholas IV, the treatise begins with a history of who held the Holy Land and Fidentius's account of its loss. It then turns to the size and conduct of the army, leadership, naval blockade, routes and landing places, and the arrangements he proposes for holding the land.
The edition follows Golubovich's 1913 Latin, checked against its page images. Selected opening passages were compared with BnF MS latin 7242. The English retains the work's chapter architecture, repeated schemes, historical terms, source-editor supplements, and stated uncertainties.
The verse and explicit printed after Chapter XCIV are included as an unnumbered coda. No Latin edition or reader's edition is included in this release.
